NEFC members celebrate 250 years of American independence

July Fourth causes us to reflect on what it means to all of us who have come here as immigrants. That rings true every year, and especially this year as America celebrates 250th anniversary. New England Friends of Croatia was formed 34 years ago, mostly by immigrants and their families. Over time, we have accepted both our countries for different reasons, and even though neither one is perfect, we love them both. But the important thing is we have stayed committed to having a Croatian community in Boston.

We gathered for the Vatreni Watch Parties — while the outcome is frustrating, we are grateful that FIFA served as a great catalyst to get us reconnected – there were more than 80 adults and many children who joined in all of the parties. Please ask everyone you know is a friend of Croatia to at least join our mailing lists. As we start planning the double anniversary next year: for NEFC it is a 35th Anniversary and for the Croatian School of Boston’s its 25th– we are hopeful to see more of you join us.
