Happy Hour with Martin Sinković – Oct 15 2025

The vibrant Croatian community of New England gathered at The Mighty Squirrel brewery last night for a special “Happy Hour” with world-renowned rowing champion Martin Sinković and his wife, Manuela. The event, organized by the Croatian School of Boston and the New England Friends of Croatia, offered a rare and welcome opportunity for fans and compatriots to meet with the celebrated athlete in a relaxed and festive atmosphere ahead of a major competition weekend.

The Sinković brothers are in Boston to compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta, marking their third year of participation in the world’s largest two-day rowing event. The gathering provided a moment of community connection before the intensity of the races begins. Attendees enjoyed the chance to chat with Martin and Manuela, share words of encouragement, and celebrate their Croatian heritage.

This weekend, Martin Sinković is set for a demanding schedule on the water. On Saturday, he will compete in the highly competitive Men’s Championship Singles, pitting his individual strength and skill against a field of elite rowers. On Sunday, he will be joined by his brother, Valent Sinković, and three other Croatian rowers to race in a powerful mixed eight crew.

The support from the local community is a cherished tradition. In previous years, as it was this year, children from the Croatian School of Boston have lined the banks of the Charles River, proudly waving flags and showing off their iconic red-and-white checkers to cheer on their national heroes. This display of pride and encouragement from the youngest members of the diaspora highlights the strong bond between the athletes and the community they represent on the world stage.
